Stephen Nelson returns to a delicate figurative watercolour technique for the project Wall.The delicacy contrasts strongly with the strength of the images, which at first seem ethereal but upon careful observation reveal the paradox, the brutal decay of bodies that the “traveller” discovers on descending into the catacombs.The figures are abstracted and softened thanks to the alluring beauty of the light colour.
