The artist’s presenting a synthesis of sets and situations, all of them referable to the instinct that obliges everyone to take place continuously between in and out, between a desire for reluctance and the challenge in the open. In the exhibited works, on one hand aboulia and inactivity, on the other achievement and burst in the outside, with some frictions, aspire to meet .
The starting point is the representation of the place from where getting act the instrument-glance: an opening in the wall (here resolved only allegorically) that measures 21 centimetres by 29,7. A small passage, with the standard dimension of the A4, through which interact with the world or, on the contrary, from which draw back.
Here then that the window – with the real function of a permeable membrane, that marks a limit – in this case is treated in all respects as an object, that is coming out from the wall to remain window, but portable, wearable. In a series of light boxes (“La nostra evoluzione è qualche cosa di diverso”, 2006), containing images in a typical fashion reportage cut, the small windows look even like an accessory, beauty case, metal pochette, Playstation…
Another work, a piece of pottery (“Volume consapevole”, 2006) refers instead to that simple law (here transcribed on the geometrical shapes of the surface) which, even if imperceptibly, subtends every single displacement of matter from A to B.
Then, a photographic work of 2002 (“Progetto per una barricata-Palermo remix”) gets the chance to be, in this occasion, revisited and adapted to the space of the gallery. Its role is essentially to visualize a static and still situation, in spite of a title that, paradoxically, refers instead to a moment of growing energy, to a premeditated and coordinated action.
At last, a group of 4, brief unpublished texts, composed by the artist in 1999, finds in Palermo a place where to stop. Also this work, as all the other in this exhibition, refers to some of the modalities, of action and/or inaction, that is possible to undertake in the instants immediately subsequent to a moment of consciousness, visual or experiential.
